Suzybeez Bakery is a family-owned custom cake studio based in Cypress, Texas, led by husband-and-wife team Chefs Caty and Tom Johnston.
What started as a small neighborhood bakery has grown into a go-to destination for handcrafted cakes and desserts made entirely from scratch.
With classical pastry training from the Culinary Institute Le Notre, Chef Caty, who grew up right here in Cypress, brings artistic vision to every design, while Chef Tom oversees baking with precision and creativity.
Today, Caty serves many customers who have known her since she was a little girl. Their teamwork earned national recognition as winners of Netflix’s Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet.
Today, Suzybeez creates custom cakes, cupcakes, and specialty desserts for weddings, birthdays, and corporate events, each one crafted with care, creativity, and a passion for making every celebration unforgettable.

In 2020, Suzybeez Bakery chefs Caty and Tom Johnston competed on Netflix’s Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet (Season 3, Episode 3), where they were challenged to create desserts inspired by magic and illusion.
Their final piece—a magician’s bag of tricks made from spiced chocolate cake—featured a
gravity-defying top hat that appeared to levitate using hidden magnets.
Under intense time pressure, their calm collaboration, technical skill, and flawless execution wowed the judges, showcasing the precision, creativity, and teamwork behind every Suzybeez creation.
